A service guarantee is only worth something if it is clearly stated, fairly applied, and actually honoured. Most contractor warranties are full of exclusions that make them nearly useless in practice. Here is ours — plain English, no asterisks. We want you to know exactly what we commit to and what falls outside our responsibility, so there are no surprises later.
Our Workmanship Guarantee
GasBoilers.ca guarantees all installation and repair labour for 12 months from the date of service. If a boiler we installed develops a fault attributable to our workmanship — a leaking connection we made, an improperly pitched condensate drain, a venting joint that was not properly sealed — we return and repair it at no additional labour charge.
The workmanship guarantee applies to:
- All gas connections and fittings we installed
- Venting system connections, hangers, and penetrations
- Condensate drain lines and trap systems we installed
- Electrical connections and wiring we performed
- Hydronic system connections — supply, return, and zone valves
- Boiler programming and commissioning settings
To make a workmanship claim, simply call us at 604-359-1081. We will schedule a return visit, inspect the issue, and determine whether it falls under the guarantee. In most cases, this is straightforward — gas connection issues and venting problems are usually clearly attributable to installation workmanship or to external factors (building movement, third-party interference).
No runaround: If we installed it and it failed because of how we installed it, we fix it. We do not make homeowners jump through hoops to claim on a workmanship fault. Our reputation depends on it.
Manufacturer Warranty Support
The boilers we install come with manufacturer warranties — typically 5 to 10 years on the heat exchanger and 2 to 5 years on parts, depending on the brand and model. These warranties are separate from our workmanship guarantee and are the manufacturer's obligation, not ours.
However, most manufacturer warranties require registration within a specific window after installation and may require annual maintenance to remain valid. GasBoilers.ca handles warranty registration on your behalf at installation. We submit the registration to the manufacturer — Navien, IBC, Viessmann, Rinnai, or whichever brand you choose — so you start the warranty clock from day one.
If you need to make a warranty claim on a manufacturer defect, we assist you through the process:
- We diagnose and document the fault in writing.
- We communicate with the manufacturer's technical line on your behalf.
- If a part is covered under warranty, we supply and install it — you pay only for our labour (unless the manufacturer provides a warranty labour allowance).
- We provide the technical documentation the manufacturer requires for approval.
Our Diagnosis Guarantee
When you call us to diagnose a boiler fault, we charge a diagnostic fee. That fee covers our technician's time, travel, and the diagnostic process — including reading fault codes, testing components, and identifying the root cause.
Our diagnosis guarantee works like this: if we diagnose a fault, you authorize the repair, we perform the repair, and the original fault is not resolved — we return at no additional charge to rediagnose and repair correctly. This applies as long as we are working on the same fault identified in the original diagnostic.
Why do we offer this? Because we are confident in our diagnostic accuracy. We have invested in proper diagnostic tools — combustion analyzers, digital manometers, gas pressure gauges, multimeters with microamp measurement — and our technicians are trained to use them. Mis-diagnosis should not cost you twice.
There is one important nuance: if a boiler has multiple independent faults (common in older systems), resolving fault A does not guarantee fault B won't emerge later. We will be transparent about this during the diagnostic conversation and advise you when multiple issues are present.
What Is Not Covered
Our guarantee is fair and clearly bounded. The following are outside its scope:
Customer-induced damage
Damage from homeowner or third-party interference with our work — moving pipes, disconnecting fittings, or improper system adjustments — is not covered.
Normal wear and tear
Seals, pump impellers, ignitors, and other consumable components have service lives. Wear-out under normal use is not a workmanship failure.
External factors
Power surges, voltage spikes, water quality problems (scale, pH extremes), and building-side issues (system contamination from third-party contractors) are not our responsibility.
Fuel supply issues
Low gas pressure from FortisBC supply issues, gas quality variations, or propane tank supply problems are outside our control.
Work by others
If another contractor performs work on the boiler or connected systems after our installation, our guarantee on affected components is voided.
Pre-existing system conditions
Faults in the existing hydronic system, electrical supply, or venting that predated our work and were disclosed (or reasonably discoverable) at the time of installation.
If you are ever uncertain whether a return-call scenario is covered, call us. We will assess it honestly. If it is our fault, we fix it. If it is not, we tell you why — clearly and without weaselling.
We stand behind our work. Every job, every time.
