FortisBC 2025 Boiler Rebate Overview
FortisBC's Energy Efficiency Rebates program currently offers qualifying BC homeowners up to $1,500 when replacing an aging gas boiler with a new ENERGY STAR–certified high-efficiency model. The rebates apply to both boiler-only replacements and full hydronic system upgrades.
To qualify, the new boiler must have a minimum 90% AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) rating and must be installed by a FortisBC-registered contractor. GasBoilers.ca — a CanroHeat Division — is a registered FortisBC Trade Ally, meaning we can handle the rebate paperwork on your behalf.
Which Boilers Qualify for FortisBC Rebates?
Most modern condensing boilers sold in BC qualify. Key models we install that meet the threshold include the Navien NCB-E Series, IBC SL Series and V Series, Viessmann Vitodens 100-W and 200-W, Rinnai I-Series, and IBC DC Series. All reach 95%+ AFUE — well above the 90% minimum.
Some notable exclusions: boiler repairs do not qualify (replacement only), and the existing system must be natural gas (conversion from oil or electric to gas follows a different program). Combi-boiler installations — where a single unit provides both space heating and domestic hot water — may qualify under both the boiler rebate and the water heater rebate simultaneously.
How to Apply for Your FortisBC Rebate
The easiest path is to have GasBoilers.ca file on your behalf. As a registered Trade Ally, we submit the rebate application directly to FortisBC after the installation is complete. You'll see the rebate deducted from your final invoice rather than waiting for a cheque.
If you prefer to apply directly: (1) save your installation invoice, (2) photograph the rating plate on the new boiler showing the AFUE, (3) complete the FortisBC online rebate form at fortisbc.com/rebates, and (4) submit within 90 days of installation. Processing typically takes 6–8 weeks.
Stacking FortisBC with Federal Rebates
BC homeowners can stack FortisBC rebates with the Canada Greener Homes Grant, which offers up to $5,000 for qualifying energy efficiency improvements. To use both, you'll need a pre-retrofit EnerGuide home evaluation (book before installation) and a post-retrofit evaluation after the work is done. The combined FortisBC + federal rebate can offset a significant portion of the total installation cost.
For a typical Navien NCB-240E installation in Metro Vancouver (installed price $5,500–$7,000), combining $1,500 in FortisBC rebates with $600–$1,000 in federal grant money brings your net cost down to $4,000–$5,000 — before any energy savings on your monthly gas bill.
