The unit tripped a protection because the coil iced up in cooling or pressures ran too high — an A-series protection (e.g. A5) on Daikin systems.

Likely causes

• Dirty filters or coil restricting airflow
• Low or incorrect refrigerant charge
• Blocked indoor/outdoor airflow
• Fan fault

What you can safely check

• Replace a dirty air filter — restricted airflow causes a surprising share of furnace faults.
• Confirm registers and the outdoor unit are clear of snow, leaves and debris.
