FortisBC Boiler Rebates 2025 — BC Homeowner Guide

FortisBC offers rebates of up to $1,500 on qualifying high-efficiency boiler replacements. As a registered Trade Ally, GasBoilers.ca deducts your rebate at invoice.

FortisBC's residential rebate program is one of the most accessible energy-efficiency incentives available to BC homeowners. If you are replacing an older gas boiler with a qualifying high-efficiency condensing unit, FortisBC will pay you a rebate — and as a registered Trade Ally, we can apply that rebate directly to your invoice so you never have to wait for a cheque.

2025 FortisBC Boiler Rebate Amounts

FortisBC rebate amounts for residential gas boiler replacements are tiered based on equipment efficiency and the type of replacement. The key threshold for qualifying is an AFUE of 90% or higher — which means condensing boilers only. Standard non-condensing boilers with 80–87% AFUE do not qualify.

Which Boilers Qualify

FortisBC maintains a list of qualifying models for rebate purposes. The boiler must be certified for Canadian installation (CSA/CGA certified) and meet the AFUE threshold. The models we install that qualify for FortisBC rebates include:

Navien NCB Series

NCB-E, NCB-H, NCB-240, NCB-210

95–98% AFUE

Combi boiler option available; popular for Vancouver condos

IBC Technologies

SL Series, V Series, DC Series

95–97% AFUE

BC-manufactured in Delta; strong cold-climate performance

Viessmann

Vitodens 100-W, 200-W, 222-F

95–98% AFUE

Stainless steel MatriX burner; 15-year heat exchanger warranty

Rinnai I-Series

i060S, i090S, i120S, i150S

95% AFUE

High-modulation; suitable for zoned hydronic systems

Qualifying model lists change as FortisBC updates the program. We verify rebate eligibility for every boiler we quote — you will know your exact rebate amount before you sign the contract.

How to Apply

There are two ways to access FortisBC rebates on a boiler replacement: through a registered Trade Ally (the easy way) or by self-applying as a homeowner.

Through GasBoilers.ca (Trade Ally)

  • ✓ Rebate deducted from your invoice at installation
  • ✓ We file all paperwork within the 90-day window
  • ✓ No waiting, no cheque delays
  • ✓ We handle documentation and model verification

Homeowner Self-Application

  • • You pay full price at installation
  • • Submit application within 90 days of installation
  • • Required: invoice, model number, TSBC acceptance certificate number
  • • Processing time: 6–12 weeks by cheque

The 90-day submission window is firm — missing it forfeits the rebate entirely. Using a Trade Ally eliminates this risk.

Stacking with Federal Rebates

BC homeowners can potentially claim both the FortisBC rebate and the Canada Greener Homes Grant on the same boiler replacement. Stacking these programs requires careful timing and documentation.

The Canada Greener Homes program requires a pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation before any work begins. The evaluation must be booked and completed before the boiler is replaced. If you have already replaced the boiler, you cannot retroactively apply for the federal grant — this is the most common mistake we see homeowners make.

The correct sequence for stacking FortisBC and federal rebates:

  1. 1Book a Natural Resources Canada-registered energy advisor for a pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation.
  2. 2Receive your EnerGuide evaluation report identifying eligible upgrades.
  3. 3Book GasBoilers.ca for the boiler replacement.
  4. 4FortisBC rebate is deducted at invoice (Trade Ally process).
  5. 5Book the post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation.
  6. 6Submit Canada Greener Homes application with both evaluations and all documentation.
